A nod to the Melrose Lanes bowling alley that once sat in its place from 1942-2005 (even the bar is reclaimed from the last remaining lane), Fenwick's 300 opened between Sinema, one of our biggest restaurant openings of the year, and Sutler, one of our biggest bar openings of the year. So needless to say that dining on this block is a win-win-win. This modern diner has a full menu at all hours, with classics from steak and eggs to the Kevin BLT to waffles however you like them.
Everyone's favorite food truck dedicated to a Nashville staple -- the biscuit -- has opened a brick and mortar in the Gulch and the line has yet to remain inside the door come brunch time. Also, it must be noted that the mimosas, made with fresh-squeezed orange juice, are served in a sizable wine glass. Try the East Nasty with fried chicken and sausage gravy or the Princess with the chicken served Nashville hot.
Reality star chef (Top Chef, Top Chef: All-Stars) Richard Blais brought his popular A-town chain to the booming, West Nashville neighborhood. FLIP features condiments and sauces made in-house, hand-made organic beef burgers, locally farmed pork, and LN2 milkshakes. There are no possible mistakes when all you want is a big, juicy burger, but the Earth +Turf with a mushroom beef blend and the Chorizo with pork hashbrowns are particularly flavorful favorites.
"Tacos. Tequila. Whiskey." is the slogan for this Mexi-Cali taco slinger. Inspired by the outlaw days of country music, you know it means rebel business when the salads are named after Johnny and Willie (not to mention the local beers are served in a boot-shaped mug). Boasting over 100 varieties of tequila, Bakersfield features margaritas made using real agave and fresh lime juice, and its 'tenders are always down to serve you $3 shots! Woo hoo!
If it did nothing else but offer a place to hangout with this view, that would be enough. Lucky for us, Chef Donald Pritchett has brought the New York rooftop dining experience there, too. This classically French-trained chef changes the menu frequently, and don't be surprised to find a different roster of ingredients on the cocktail list either.
Burgers, bar, sushi. It's not a classic combination, but it should be. The team that brought you ramen house Two Ten Jack revamped the Zumi Sushi space in Hillsboro Village to reflect the aesthetic of modern-day Tokyo, an inspired idea born from the founder's recent travels. Lucky Belly combines the quality burger experience with traditional Japanese cuisine and the added bonus of spiked milkshakes using a flavorful variety of Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream.
For those who would rather start dinner with dessert and remain there (you know who you are) look no further. Goozy dessert bar does have some artisan grilled cheese on the menu, but chances are you didn't come here for them. Don't be afraid to dive right into that chocolate molten cake, Nutella gelato cone sundae, and bourbon caramel milkshakes.
Dino's, one of Nashville's favorite dives, was given a facelift under new owner Miranda Whitcomb Pontes (Burger Up, Josephine, Prima) and longtime friend Alex Wendkos. Locals were nervous at first, afraid they would lose the essence of what they loved so much about Dino's, but it appears not much has changed -- phew! -- just a bit of sprucing up of both interior and menu, adding diner-style options like BLTs and Frito pies.
